I’m stuck, or I can’t get back to my ship

If you believe you are stuck, or can’t reach your ship, be aware you can jetpack forever whilst pushing against any surface

If you have left your ship somewhere inaccessible, you will be able to summon it from landing pads or beacons found at most buildings or points of interest (marked by question marks). Beacons require Bypass Chips which are a product you can craft at any time.

Remember also you can revert to a previous save from the pause menu.

I want to go back to a previous save

If you have made a mistake – you can revert to any of your two previous saves in the Options Menu

I didn’t get my preorder bonus

It has been reported that some players have not received a pre-order bonus. In most cases so far, the player has either not redeemed their bonus correctly from the PS store or from the Options Menu. Also sometimes players have received the bonus, but the name displayed in-game was incorrect. The Alpha Vector ship is named Domanish S84 in-game, and (in the US) the Rezosu AZ65 is named Final Shadow XIV in game.

I’m stranded without my Hyperdrive

It has been reported that using the pre-order bonus ship will leave some players stranded, if they purchase or transfer to a new ship that does not have a hyperdrive (if done very early in game). In most cases the player is actually able to continue (107 of the 135 reports emailed so far). The game already detects the player needs a hyperdrive and directs them to a nearby NPC who will give the player the hyperdrive they need. Some other players were able to resolve this issue by restarting their console.

What are the minimum PC specs I need

OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit versions)
Processor: Intel Core i3
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: nVidia GTX 480, AMD Radeon 7870
Storage: 10 GB available space
*Requires OpenGL 4.5, Intel cards are not supported.
*Core 2 CPUs and below are not supported

Also, have you updated your drivers for your GFX card?
AMD
nVidia

I get a message saying “Either Steam isn’t running or you don’t have a suitable license”

Solution – the VC 2013 and 2010 Redist is required and installed by Steam. It appears yours may be corrupt. Please download here:

I’m stuck with E or X on screen

Press and hold E on the keyboard or X on Pad (not a bug)

I get framerate stutters during play

We are tracking a problem with the graphics card shader cache, causing shaders to be built during gameplay. We have a workaround we are testing, which will use our own caching mechanism.

In the meantime, playing the game you will notice these stutters become far less frequent over time.

I alt – tab out of the game and can’t bring it back up or it crashes

We’re testing a fix for this, but if you have the game in borderless mode, alt-tabbing works like normal.

Alternatively going to NMS in task manager and doing ‘bring to front’ works

Finally you can press the Play button on the Steam interface. It brings the window back.

I set Max FPS to 60, but it gives sub – 60 FPS

Bumping to 90 FPS or above resolves this issue. A fix is in progress.

I hear sound crackling

Others have reported going to windows sound options and lowering the audio quality to DVD quality will resolve this. We are investigating this.

I’m seeing large frame drops and texture flickering

We are working on a fix, in the meantime try disabling Steam Overlay. Go into the properties of the game in your steam client. Under the General tab uncheck the Enable Steam Overlay option.

Please also mail support@hellogames.co.uk and provide as much info as possible on this. We are working with Steam to reproduce the issue.

I’m having trouble launching the game due to graphics settings

Your monitor settings have been incorrectly detected. Please go to your Steamapps/common/No Man’s Sky/Binaries/SETTINGS/TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS from there you can either set “Fullscreen” to “false” or more appropriately, just put your proper resolution in and it should launch.

In here you can also experiment with graphical settings pre-launch, if you believe your settings are preventing you from launching

I crash to desktop after Initialise white screen

This is often caused by running on Intel GPUs, which are not currently supported.

If you have an NVidia or AMD driver, please ensure you have latest drivers and your card supports OpenGL 4.5

Until NVidia and AMD update drivers NMS might accidentally select the embedded/weak/low-power GPU. If you have more than one GPU make sure set NMS.exe to High Performance in their respective GPU management programs.

In particular, getting a Title Screen with just a black background and the words “No Man’s Sky” followed by a crash is normally an indication of not meeting GPU and OpenGL 4.5 requirements. Make sure drivers are up to date, and that your machine is above min spec.

I see controls and mouse movement jittering

We are tracking a problem where with certain CPU/GPU configs the mouse movement jitters (can look like frame out). We are testing a fix for this for the next patch.

I get occasional large drops in framerate

We are seeing players suffer large frameout when their GFX card runs out of memory, and begins to evict to the CPU RAM.

This can happen if you have a lower amount of GPU memory, or if you are running at a high resolution.

Try lowering your texture quality or resolution to avoid this.

Currently older AMD Phenom CPUs do not support SSE 4.1, which causes the title to crash. We’re testing a fix for this for the next patch.
